Giving a Simple Reason

When you speak, it’s good to give a reason for your opinion. A very useful word for giving a reason is “because.”

To talk about your favorite animal, you can use this simple sentence structure:

My favorite animal is the [animal] because it is [describing word].

Using “because” makes your answer much better!


Tips for Success

Here are two simple tips to help you speak more clearly.

  1. Use the Full Sentence. Start with “My favorite animal is…” This is great practice for speaking tests.
  2. Pause Before “Because”. Take a small breath before you give your reason. For example: “I like dogs… (pause) …because they are smart.”
