Make sentences about students, or famous people, to teach/revise the adjectives, e.g. Paulo has got short hair. Tina’s hair is long and curly. Include dark/fair skin and eye colour.
Describe a student in class, so your friends can guess who you are describing.
Main activity
Listening
Make into groups of four. Each group picks one picture on the slide below.
You are going to hear information about a lost child. You must find the child on your slide.
Play the recording twice. Ask each group to decide which child is lost.
Check your answers.
Speaking
You are going to play the lost child game.
Listen carefully the teacher will describe the characteristics of the missing child.
Then guess by matching which picture matches the description of the missing child’s characteristics that the teacher has read out. Just type the serial number of the image.
Follow up
Draw a face, and write a description on a separate piece of paper.
Collect pictures and give them randomly. Make sure no one gets your own picture back.
Describe the drawing you made in front of the class. You may ask about the pictures, but you may not show each other.
Make a note of who might have the photo among your friends. When everyone thinks they’ve come up with your own image, Find out who’s right and who’s wrong.
Write down the resulting description of the missing child’s picture by typing the answer on the web.
Then the teacher will randomly select students and instruct you and your friends to tell the results of your work orally.
