Warm up

  1. Ask students what they do to keep fit. If they play sports, exercise, use a gym, or even use machines.
  2. Ask the if too much exercise can be dangerous, to elicit hurt yourself

Main Activity

  1. Tell students this is a story about people trying to keep fit.
You are going to work in groups of eight people, but each person will have only one picture. You can talk about your pictures with the other people in your group, but you must not look at each other’s pictures. You must find the story and find out where your picture is in the story.
  2. Divide the class into groups of eight and each group will share one set of pictures, each group member will have a single picture from the story.
  3. You will be the one who divided the picture, secretly.
  4. Ask students to think about how to describe their picture to their group. Tell them to make notes of important words, but do not write full sentences.
  5. When all the groups have found the story and decided on the correct sequence, allow them to look at all pictures together and arrange them into the correct sequence.

Alternative version
A livelier way to do this activity is to have all students working in pairs or small groups sharing a single picture. Take turns to sit down with your picture and describe it to other pairs or groups while your partner moves around the class getting information about the other pictures. Every few minutes, go back to your partner to share information and change roles.
