  2. What do you think a spy’s job involves? What do they usually do in their working day?
  3. How do you think a spy catcher catches spies

Listening

  1. Imagine you are spy catchers.

You are at a party at your country’s embassy in London

  • Your mission: Find the spy.

Information:

  • Code name OCTOBER
  • Not married
  • Has army experience
  • Does not live in Europe or the USA
  • Plays some type of sport, maybe tennis or golf
  • There is another spy catcher at the party. Identify that person.
  1. You are going to hear a conversation at the party. You should listen and complete your mission. Play the recording once.
  2. Compare ideas quickly with your classmates.

Speaking

  1. You are going to a party at your country’s embassy in London. Make Groups of six and the teacher will be the one who divides the role. Read the information, and do not look at each other’s role.
  2. Ask the teachers if you have any questions about vocabulary or other details.
  3. You can use your own names but you should use the information on the Cards and your imagination to add other information about yourselves. You have 5 minutes to complete this mission. Stand up and introduce yourselves to another guest.

Follow up

Write up and record a short report saying how you identified your target and achieved your mission.
