Lesson 25 – Really?

Warm Up

  1. Your teacher will tell some story using the card, you can ask questions about the story
  2. If you believe your teacher’s story, that is not completely true. You have to guess which parts are true or false. You have to give your opinion on which parts you believe and which parts you do not believe and why.

Main Activity

  1. You are going to play a storytelling game. You must guess if the stories are true or false.
  2. You will be put in groups of four to six. Your group will be given by your teacher a board, a set of cards, and a die. Find something to use as your marker to move around the board, like a coin or some personal item.
  3. Rules:
  • Everyone throws the die once
  • The student with the highest score starts.
  • You have to throw the die and move your marker to the number of squares on the die.
  • If that lands on a square with instructions, you have to follow the instructions
  • If you get a card, you must tell the group the story on the card.
  • Your friends should ask questions and try to decide if the story is true or false
  • When everyone has said what they think, the storyteller tells them who is right and wrong.
  • Then the next person on the left of the storyteller throws the die, and so on until
    someone finishes
  • The person to finish is the winner

4. If one team finishes before the other, that team can go and listen to another team’s stories and try to guess if they are true or false.

 

Follow up

  • Write up an account or your favorite story from the game you played on a loose sheet of paper. Write your own name on the sheet.
  • Your teacher will collect the stories and put them on the wall arranged in the same group that you were in when you played the game.
  • You have to go around and read the stories. Guess who any of the storytellers were.
  • Give the comments about which you liked and which you believed. Your teacher will check your guesses.
